This week was definitely the highlight of my summer. It was great to talk to a lot of new people, take pictures with them and catch up with some friends from Riverside. It really sucks that I couldn't go on all four days, but Friday was such a blast. I may have the best luck, since I ran into some of the best cosplayers I know.
So this is 's and my bombdiggity cosplay as Patty and Death the kid. It was great sporting these costumes from last year. we got lots of photos with tons of people, fangirls and fanboys alike. I just wish I could've taken more pictures with them.
The Recap:
Thursday
After coming to the expo first day with no badge at all, I was forced to stay outside. Apparently I was grounded from attending the con by my parents, but that didn't stop me from going. When there's a will there's a way right? So I took the train to scout the area and route. I decided to go back tomorrow with my sister as Patty.
Friday
This day was such a blast! I met up with a couple of my friends from university and spent some time with them. We took some polaroids to savor the moment, since my friend who was cosplaying as Soul Eater Evans had a midterm on Monday and would not be attending the remainder of the convention.
Meeting Alodia Gosiengfiao
We spent some of the time at the autograph booth for Alodia just goofing off and catching up. When we finally got to her, we took more polaroids for her to sign. Unfortunately the staff was a bit rude towards us specifically. The reasons remain unknown. They went on about one pic per person when the man in front of us took about 20...nonetheless, that didn't stop us from holding a good conversation with her. We told her about our situation, how we snuck out just to meet her because she was 's and my cosplaying idol. She thought it was sweet and wanted to post our story on her twitter! That was enough to make my day. I have my friends to thank for shooting our pictures with her, I couldn't have gotten these awesome photos without their help.
The Highlights:
Meeting our other Cosplay Idols
And so, the adventure continued. We bumped into 's Attack on Titan group and got stamps. Not to mention, my friend Ryan bought a wig from Arda wigs thanks to 's advice.
At about noon we tried to catch (Sachie)'s meet up and took a picture with her. Unfortunately it was taken in the wrong setting so the polaroid was overexposed. That may have been the only time I was really disappointed during the convention. Maybe next time.
By the end of the day we magically found our favorite youtube Cosplaying group from the east coast, Inner Mind Theater. We didn't hesitate to take a picture with and . it meant a lot when they complimented our Soul Eater outfits.
Memorable Cosplay Groups
After walking around and growing tired we decided to take a break. Guess who we find along the way? A group of Code Geass characters. I have to admit that Nunnally took the limelight in this photo. We also found a pretty sick steampunk group, their outfits were really great. To end the day, we stopped by some food trucks parked outside and found a future diary holder and ended with one very unsymmetrical picture.
Sunday
Words cannot describe the amount of epicness that transpired on this day. Things started out pretty slow, thanks to a few drinks that knocked my friends out cold. On the last day of exhibit hall we bought a few cups and walked around, the usual.
And on this day I found perfect symmetry, A Liz and Patty to pose pictures with! They were the best. Unfortunately, this was the only picture I managed to get...it wasn't even symmetrical!
There really wasn't much to do once my friend left us at the con. We just stopped by the crunchyroll booth and danced during day 4's battle dance for freebies. I was able to put up a few tricks, tutting and bboying with :iconjon0amie:. Now if I can just find the live stream link on youtube....
Soul Eater Group
Once exhibit hall closed down at 3 o' clock, and I made our the way to the lobby, It was about 30 minutes in when a random black star approached the two of us. He had his trusty weapon, Tsubaki with him. It didn't take long before Soul Eater Evans took pictures with us as well. Everything just seemed to click in place and soon we were the most notable Soul Eater group at the con! They were great to kill the rest of the time with. not to mention the fact that their outfits were spot on!
The Verdict
I knew Anime Expo was going to be great, but it turned out better than I had expected. I was able to meet many of my idols and make new friends along the way. Hopefully I can fix my death the kid wig before the next con.
Future Conventions and Cosplays
Hopefully by Anime LA 2014 I can sport Death the Kid's madness attire. It's nothing too fancy, just a special black dress shirt and a white cravat. Maybe before the summer ends i can sneak in some Free Iwatobi Swim Club cosplay of Nagisa as well, which shouldn't be too difficult. My next big cosplay might be Fire Emblem Awakening's Inigo. I know the game is pretty underrated so I hope to make my first armor costume with it. Here's to hoping that it all goes as planned!

2014 Recap and Anime Los Angeles 2015
Oh wow, it's been quite a while since I last updated my journal. So much has happened since Anime Expo. Let's see where do I start...
After recuperating from AX I took some time off to focus on other things, primarily future cosplans. My budget ran real low since then and it basically drained my wallet to the last penny. I had to plan carefully on which characters to do next and with Halloween just around the corner, I decided to go with Tokyo Ghoul's Ken (post torture). The costume relied on very little fabric with the main focus around his mask. It was my first time undertaking a task, but in the end I was pretty satisfied with the results
Anime Expo 2014 Part 3 Haikyu!
The last day of Expo was pretty slow, much like how the first day went. Everyone was really tired, switching in and out of costumes, putting on makeup, and staying up all night to milk whatever the con had to offer. I was glad to wear Haikyu! on the last day with my friends especially since wearing armor for 2 whole days was not very mobile.
My sister and I took the train to get to the con and received a lot of stares from fellow passengers - it was already 11 o' clock when we were on our way to Expo. It's amusing and entertaining to see people's reactions when they see people dressed up in costumes on a weekday.
Sunday was basically
Anime Expo 2014 Part 2
My sister and I had been running on 4 hours of sleep every night during the week of Expo, so you can only imagine the amount of stress we went through finishing up our costumes in time. I had to cram in some favors for a friend since she didn't really know how to use a rotator for her chestplate, so I volunteered to finish it for her. I was also stuck with styling a couple of wigs - FEA's Gerome, Inigo, Severa, and Haikyuu's Hinata and Yu. Most of them turned out well since I'd grown used to styling shorter wigs, but the most arduous task was styling that of Severa's. I had underestimated the difficulty in sewing the wefts, especially since t
Anime Expo 2014 Part 1
It's been a long while since I last updated my journal and so much has happened! I've been swamped with work, life and costumes for the past few months haven't had much time to update here on deviant. During the weeks before Expo, I was already working on my Fire Emblem Awakening costumes with my sister and friend. We planned on doing it back in February but procrastinated by the end of June to finish everything up.
Wednesday - Day 0
Basically the day to pick up pre-ordered badges. I didn't buy mine early but went along with a friend to pick hers up. Despite the scorching heat, I dressed up as casual Levi with my custom Attack On Titan long
